Those out in the cold battling for a real family Christmas…

Like Christmases past we at D.A.D.S and NAAP have done what we can to raise awareness about the abuse children and parents face behind family court doors.

But let’s not forget we are still parents on Christmas Day. And we made a stand outside the family courts to prove it.

Yes, we did just that. We gave up part of our Christmas Day to make a quiet dignified protest.

We call it the Kids Free Christmas – Not by Choice campaign. Mums, dads, grandparents and even a  great grandmother joined us.

They helped highlight the effect parental alienation has on all family members. Children being denied contact with the absent parent is not all of the story. Christmas Day is normally a time of rejoicing and joy, forgiveness and togetherness.

Yet we see many parents close to the edge, numb, deflated, depressed, suicidal  and suffering post traumatic stress disorder.

We know how difficult it is for parents to be able to function because of what they are going through.

Heartbreak.

Many people will never even begin to imagine the pain and suffering, the hurt  that absent parents face.

Contact denial is without doubt the worst thing any parent, grandparent or family member could ever go through.

Fragile  parents   left slumped and deflated

Children to face a lifetime mental health

The words that a mum/grandmother once said to me still echo: “Everyday I miss my son. I will never see him again. He took his life but my life stopped too. I will never see my grandchildren, I will never be able to hold them. My life is a living hell. My son loved his children  and that love and missing them  took his life.”

Contact denial and family courts cause death by suicide.
