I’M SO PROUD TO BE ARCHIE’S MUM

Archie Battersbee, the 12-year-old who had been at the centre of a legal battle between his parents and doctors, has died.

His mother, Hollie Dance, said: “Such a beautiful little boy, and he fought right until the very end.”

She said she was “the proudest mum in the world” as she spoke outside the Royal London Hospital in east London, where he died.

Her son’s life support was withdrawn earlier on Saturday.

He died at 12.15 BST, Ms Dance said, adding: “I’m so proud to be his mum.”

Archie had been in hospital since being found unconscious at his home in Southend, Essex, in April.

He suffered severe brain injuries and needed life-sustaining support, including mechanical ventilation and drug treatment. He never regained consciousness.

Ms Dance earlier said she had done everything she promised Archie she would do.

I’m so sorry for the families loss and the hell they went through my son was disabled with no capacity I know the battle you have been through I went through it yr in yr out ever time my son got sick not being able to speak for himself the hospital and best interests did that for him, it was never in his best interests to leave him to die when days before he was alive and well something went wrong when I left the hospital within six hours of leaving him my son was fighting for his life with lack of oxygen to his brain they refused to give him life saving treatment and left him for the next ten hours fighting for every last breath till he turned blue and his heart stopped my heart goes out to the family, it’s six months today I lost my beautiful son Declan they can look after each other in heaven.
